What Happens If I’m Stung or Bitten ?
Generally, the first time a person is stung or bitten, they will only have a local reaction. After the initial sting, an IgE antibody
may be produced which can sensitize the person for a more severe reaction with each subsequent sting or bite getting worse with time.

Anaphylaxis symptoms may include one or more of the following:
– Hives

– Wheeze
– Cough
– Nausea
– Vomiting
– Lightheadedness

Do You Have a Bee Sting Allergy?
The most severe form is bee sting anaphylaxis. If you have had a reaction to a bee sting that is more severe than a local or large local reaction, then you may be a candidate for potentially life-saving venom immunotherapy. (What is immunotherapy?)
Skin testing to bee venoms will tell us which venoms to use for immunotherapy. At a minimum, people with bee sting
anaphylaxis should carry an EpiPen, AuviQ, or any injectable epinephrine at all times.
