Sinusitis Treatment in Appleton

and the Fox Cities

How is it Caused?

Sinus symptoms can be overwhelming. When it strikes, get relief from our allergy experts. They are specialists at treating sinus infections (aka “Sinusitis”).

Sinus infections occur because the sinuses are hollow cavities within the bones of the face that are connected to the nose through small openings. If the sinus openings are blocked by allergy, a structural problem, or the common cold, a buildup of mucus in the sinuses may become infected by bacteria.

Four Types of Sinusitus

-Acute Sinusitis

Acute Sinusitis is sudden with symptoms much like a common cold or a sinus headache. It commonly lasts up to 14 days and may last as long as 4 weeks.

-Subacute Sinusitis

Subacute Sinusitis is an inflammation that lasts 4-8 weeks.

-Chronic Sinusitis

Chronic sinusitis is a problem with symptoms lasting greater than 8 weeks and may be a separate chronic inflammatory disorder that is not necessarily due to bacterial infection. Diagnostic evaluation with a CT scan and an Ear, Nose and Throat consultation is indicated for sinusitis that does not clear readily.

-Recurrent Sinusitis

Recurrent Sinusitis is when you experience several sinusitis attacks within a year.
